Family & Partner Migration in Australia

Family and Partner Migration visas offer a range of pathways to help Australian citizens, permanent residents, and eligible New Zealand citizens bring their loved ones to Australia. These visas are designed to strengthen family ties by allowing partners, children, parents, and other eligible relatives to join their sponsors for either temporary or permanent residence. Partner Visas
Partner visas are for individuals who are in a genuine and ongoing relationship with an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. These visas include options for both de facto and married couples. The pathway typically begins with a temporary Partner Visa (Subclass 820/309) and transitions to permanent residency through the Partner Visa (Subclass 801/100) after the relationship is assessed over time. Partner visas require substantial evidence of your relationship and your sponsor’s commitment.

Parent Visas
Parent visas allow parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to live in Australia, either temporarily or permanently. These include contributory parent visas (Subclass 884/864) with faster processing times due to higher fees, and non-contributory visas like the Subclass 103 for those with longer timelines. Applicants must meet the balance of family test, demonstrating that at least half of their children live in Australia or that more of their children reside in Australia than in any other single country.

Child Visas
Child visas are designed to reunite children with their Australian parent or legal guardian. These include the Subclass 101 (offshore) and Subclass 802 (onshore) visas for dependent children. There are also options for adopted children (Subclass 102) and orphan relatives (Subclass 117/837), ensuring that children in special circumstances can be cared for in Australia.

Other Family Visas
Other family visas cater to unique situations, such as the Remaining Relative Visa (Subclass 115/835), which allows individuals who have no close family members outside Australia to join their remaining relatives. The Carer Visa (Subclass 116/836) is for those providing ongoing care to an Australian relative with a medical condition, and the Aged Dependent Relative Visa (Subclass 114/838) supports older relatives reliant on an Australian sponsor.

Family and Partner Migration pathways ensure the unity and stability of families while requiring applicants and sponsors to meet eligibility criteria such as sponsorship commitments, health and character checks, and demonstrating genuine relationships. Whether you're reuniting with a partner, supporting a parent, or bringing a child to join your family, we are here to guide you through the process with expert legal advice and personalised solutions.
